To make the wine I envision.
Ever since I was very young, I always knew that I wanted to cultivate my own wine one day. During my studies, I put my heart and soul into learning about wine and how it’s created. I was lucky – there were still a few vineyards in my family, where the grapes had long since been used to produce any wine. That was then. Now, I’ve poured all my knowledge and passion into the very barrels where my first wines now slumber. I’ve picked the finest grapes from the finest vineyards and I’m now creating my own wines – and with it, writing the first chapter of an exciting story.
Loiben lies on the left bank of the Danube. Here in the heart of the Wachau, the steep, terraced vineyards sprawl out as far as the eye can see – and further still. Viticulture has a long-standing tradition here and despite the elevations, which aren’t the most ideal to cultivate, wine takes centre stage in Loiben. The locality is home to a special climate, which is regulated by the Danube. Warm airstreams from the Pannonian region and cool winds from Lower Austria’s Waldviertel district come together to give the wine an exceptional aroma. But it’s not just about the climate. The soil is another crucial factor in creating the unique wines from Loiben: strongly weathered primary rock, as well as gneiss and loess, shape the soil profile of the Loibner vineyards.
A classic Grüner Veltliner that reflects the region where it grows: a powerful yellow-green wine with a very fruity aroma, paired with a harmonious balance of acidity that is typical of the Danube gravel of the Ried Klostersatz vineyard.
A powerful Grüner Veltliner fermented using selected, ripe grapes. Grown towards the east of the Loiben vineyards, this wine features a bouquet with fruity notes and is, to put it simply, an elegant Veltliner pleasure.
This Riesling Ried Loibenberg stems from the steep terraced vineyards of the Wachau and features pronounced mineral tones and an acidity that is full of character. The perfect pairing for rich dishes: elegant yet powerful.
